An indoor dog residence,
handcrafted at The PupHut Atelier.
A home within your home, built like fine furniture. One residence at a time, for one dog - yours.

Founded 2023, Canada · Commissioning opens with the first release · The Atelier List is open
The PupHut residence is in design and development. It is specified to the last hinge, the first Key is in hand, and the materials are on the bench in test. The drawings here stand in until the first residence is finished, and the Atelier List sees it first.

An introduction
One evening, the house will be quiet, and your dog will be asleep under the arch.
The Residence
Solid maple, solid polished brass, vegan throughout. The signature arch rises so your dog can stand tall, in a place as intentional as the rest of the house. Never an afterthought in the corner.
The Atelier
An independent Canadian studio, founded in Edmonton in 2023. Every residence is commissioned, built, and finished by hand, one on the bench at a time. None leaves before it is right.
The Craft
Frame-and-panel joinery, a roof of bent laminated maple, and hardware concealed where it should be. Made to keep its shape through the years, and the dogs, to come.
The Resident
Every dog the Atelier builds for is a Resident, one dog, named, whose way of living shapes their residence. That name is carried through the work from the first day.

How it works
- Join the Atelier List A place in line, nothing more. No deposit, no commitment.
- Commissioning opens The List hears first, in a small opening release.
- Begin with a Commission Deposit Your Resident's Key arrives as a gift within days. You design the residence whenever you are ready, and it is built by hand and delivered when it is finished, never before it is right.

You’re on the List.
Nothing is asked of you now. One evening, the house will be quiet, and your dog will be asleep under the arch.
Until then, tell us about your dog and the residence you are imagining for them, atelier@puphut.ca. We read every note, and we remember the names.

The Residence, briefly
Built to stand in the room like the furniture around it. Made so your dog can stand tall, in a home of their own.

The arch
The roof is one continuous curve, thin layers of maple bent to shape and formed into a single piece. Height is added only where a standing dog needs it, at the centre, so there is real headroom without the bulk of a taller box. And with no flat plane anywhere, nothing gets set on top, nothing gets spilled, and nothing clatters above your dog's head.
The doors
An Open Residence has no door, for the dog who simply wants a place of their own. A Private Residence adds double maple doors, each with a window of clear recycled acrylic, that swing a full 270 degrees and rest flat against the sides. With the doors closed, it can serve as a crate for suitable dogs and households.
Air and light
Arched windows on both side walls bring light in at your dog's height. One slim line of louvres runs round the doors, both side walls and the back wall, so warm air leaves high and cool air comes in low. Your dog can see the room, and the room can see your dog.
The materials
Solid maple. Solid polished brass, designed by the founder and made for the PupHut residence alone, down to the hinges and the latch. Clear recycled acrylic for the door windows. Zero to low-VOC finishes, vegan throughout.
The Dream Bed
Every residence includes a bed made to fit its interior, designed alongside the arch, the doors and the floor. Graded layers of natural latex, a washable cotton wrap, a tailored cover cut to fit the way upholstery fits, and a removable, water-resistant liner as an option. Three builds, Balanced, Soft and Firm.
Sized to your dog
Sizing starts with three measurements, and the third is the one we would most like you to take. Length tells us whether your dog fits. Standing height tells us whether they can stand. The curl, taken across them while they sleep, tells us whether they are comfortable. Find your dog's size, or see the sizes.

The Resident's Key
A numbered solid-brass Key, made for one dog.
The Resident's Key is a solid-brass keepsake, numbered to your residence and made for your dog. It is not something you buy. It is the gift that accompanies your Commission Deposit, and it ships to you within days of beginning.
Your number is assigned the day you begin, and it is yours alone. Once given, a number is never issued to anyone else.
Keys are issued in small releases, only as many commissions as the Atelier can build to its standard. When a release is fully held, commissioning pauses, and the Atelier List opens first when the next begins.

Questions, answered
When can I commission one?
Commissioning opens with the first release. The Atelier List hears first.
How much will a residence cost?
Pricing will be shared when commissioning opens. Every residence is built to commission, one at a time.
Is a PupHut residence a crate?
A PupHut residence offers crate functionality for suitable dogs and households, but it is not a wire crate or a travel crate. It is built as a piece of furniture, made to be seen.

Handcrafted at The PupHut Atelier
The Three Paths
Every PupHut residence is commissioned along one of three Paths, and all three are built the same way, by hand.
Signature Path
The PupHut residence, as the Atelier designed it.
The arched residence, warm maple, polished brass. Three Signature colours outside with natural maple within, or the maple left as it is, inside and out. The design every other commission begins from.
Heirloom Path
The commission, taken further.
The same residence, taken further, the deep Heirloom tones, standing on solid brass corner feet, with brass grilles across the door. More of the Atelier's hand, in more of the details.
Bespoke Path
A private commission, by application.
A residence shaped around one Resident, your design from first sketch to last detail. Up to ten are accepted each year, by application.
